Positioning architecture and built environment programmes in the QS and Times Higher Education rankings
Led the School of Future Environments’ strategy that took Architecture and Built Environment at AUT from an unranked position to its first appearance in the QS World University Rankings by Subject in 2026, placed in the 201 to 260 band as one of three New Zealand universities ranked in the subject, in under two years.
Since 2015 he has contributed to the assessment processes of the QS World University Rankings and the Times Higher Education (THE) rankings, providing expert insight on the standing of universities across North America, Australasia, Southeast Asia and the Middle East, with a focus on built environment engineering and architecture. That experience informs how he reads the indicators behind a ranking, from academic and employer reputation to research impact, and how he aligns a school’s research, partnerships and international profile with them.
